Albert Coma Bau

Albert Coma Bau (Vic, Barcelona – 1970).
From the moment he took the radical option of choosing the art, the life and the work of Albert Coma have travelled together. He has used multiple forms of artistic expressions throughout his career mostly drawing, painting, photography, installation and performances.

From 1984 to 2007 Albert studied drawing, within a B.A graduate in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona. He then received a grant from the Leeds Metropolitan University in England where he worked as an artistic director for Tanvir Bush’s within a short film called Changeling, which was selected for the Fuji Film Festival in London.

Albert has participated in many solo and collective exhibitions in Spain, USA, Switzerland, France, Germany and the Middle East. He has been awarded many times from 1996 to present:
– The First Prize in the International of Sculptors. Meeting in Calaf by Project Ran in Barcelona.
– The 10th Concurs Sanvicens in Sitges at the Centre Cultural Joan Maragall displaying a work called “Lovers”
– Workshop for the Study of the Image Canal Abierto, Esclau (Slave),Madrid;
– The 5th Bienal, Contemporary Art Association for the Ephemeral Encounters;
– The Photography Prize Fundació Vila Casas (Inhabited Body), Girona;
– The Spanish Cultural Center in Miami, Kakok Foundation Auction, Florida.
– The XLVIII Drawing Prize, Fundació Ynglada-Guillot, (Ephemeral encounters) Barcelona Spain.
– The XLVIX Drawing Prize, Fundació Ynglada-Guillot, (Confusion Feeling) Barcelona Spain.

Most recently the Vila Casas Foundation has acquired a piece of his work “Cuerpo habitado” to add to its collection at Palau Solterra in Torroella de Mongrí, Spain.
Albert works currently forms part of the art collection of the royal family of Jordan. After showing his recent exhibition in Amman, Albert has also been invited to participate in the National Gallery of Jordan in Amman for the exhibition “Spanish Art in Jordan”
